Prerequisites
Before connecting your Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) account to Upwind, ensure you have the following:
Required Access and Permissions
1. Oracle Cloud Account
- An active Oracle Cloud Infrastructure tenancy.
- Access to the Oracle Cloud Console (https://cloud.oracle.com).
2. Administrator Privileges
You'll need administrator-level access to manage all resources in your OCI tenancy.
3. Tenancy Information
Have the following information ready:
- Tenancy OCID: Your unique tenancy identifier.
- Home Region: The home region of your OCI tenancy.
- Tenancy Name: The name of your Oracle Cloud tenancy.
Technical Requirements
Federation Configuration
- Ability to create identity providers for federation.
- Access to configure Workload Identity Federation.
- Permission to create trust relationships with external AWS accounts.
- Access to create service principals in your identity domain.
Network Requirements
- Outbound HTTPS connectivity from Upwind to Oracle Cloud APIs.
- No specific inbound rules required (read-only access).
Recommended Knowledge
While not strictly required, familiarity with the following concepts will help:
- Oracle IAM: Understanding of OCI Identity and Access Management.
- OCI Policies: Basic knowledge of policy syntax and structure.
- Workload Identity Federation: Understanding of federated authentication concepts.
- Trust Relationships: Knowledge of cross-cloud authentication patterns.
Time Requirements
The integration typically takes:
- Initial Setup: 15-20 minutes.
- First Scan: 30-60 minutes depending on tenancy size.
- Full Discovery: 2-4 hours for complete resource inventory.
